WEBSITE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Website project management is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific website project goals and objectives.

The process begins with a discovery period whereby the project team becomes familiar with the business model and operations of the client. Once the discovery phase is complete, strategic planning can begin. Strategic planning outlines the purpose and direction for the website. It can include: a mission statement, marketing goals, competitive analysis, user requirements, branding strategy, additionally the metrics used to measure project success. The planning phase is completed first and involves both the client team and the contractor teams.

Organizing all or some of these topics into a written project document or documents is next. Typical documents include Analysis & Design, Specification, and Usability & Acceptance Testing Plans. After the documents have been created and signed off on by both parties, the project can then be broken down into tasks and mapped out over an established timeline.
