June 30 is Social Media Day!

Saturday, June 30, 2012 is Mashable’s third annual Social Media Day – dedicated to recognizing the digital revolution. Fourteen US cities and two state governments have officially recognized June 30 as Social Media Day, among them San Diego and Tampa were the most recent cities to join the social media scene.

Celebrate by hosting or attending a meetup in your area. Mashable is hosting meetups on June 30 in 516 cities around the world, from New York to Sydney to Buenos Aires. This is a global celebration of technological advancements that allow people from all around the world to communicate in real time. Mashable Meetups are organized by fans and readers, and provide an opportunity for people to meet and chat about social media and tech offline. They can consist of informal gatherings of social media minds or technology influencers, discussing web culture, viral videos, social media marketing best practices, and much more.
