LinkedIn announced the launch of their new “Follow Company” button on its official blog on Monday. The LinkedIn Follow Company feature is similar to following a company on Twitter or Liking a brand on Facebook in that users will receive automatic updates from those brands in their LinkedIn feeds. Companies are able to better target consumers and amplify messages with updates such as news, job opportunities, and conversations showing up on LinkedIn members’ personal pages.
Large corporations such as Sony Electronics, American Express, Starbucks, and AT&T have already committed to adding the button to their websites. The social network, which claims 157 million individual members and represents over 2 million companies, says the new button “marks the first phase of LinkedIn’s follower ecosystem strategy that will unfold over the coming weeks.”
While Twitter has carved out the niche for following celebrities, LinkedIn in comparison is doing the same for following companies. The highest percentage of its 157 million members are working professionals aged 35 to 54. LinkedIn has been the favored social network for HR recruiting, and the new Follow Company button is another tool to strengthen that relationship. Follow Company is a great way to stay in touch with companies you do business with, and an effective method for keeping track of competitors too.
With the new feature, the world’s largest professional social network promises to improve engagement between brands and their members. Visit LinkedIn to add the button to your company website!
