Social Media Week, a unique global platform featuring a series of interconnected activities in 12 cities worldwide is under way. Now in its fourth year, the week-long conference draws in over 60,000 people and half a million people connecting online and through mobile. Social Media Week links people and brands around emerging trends in social and mobile media, with events taking place this year in Hamburg, Hong Kong, London, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto, and Washington D.C.
Due to support from corporate sponsors, most of the sessions are free to attend. The panel discussions cover social media marketing topics across all major industries, including presentations like “Social Media in Politics and Finance” and “How to Talk to Bloggers and Your Social Media Community.” Keynote speakers include Fabio Coelho, CEO of Google Brazil; Paul Adams, Global Brand Experience Manager of Facebook; and Ben Scott, Policy Advisor for Innovation of the U.S. State Department.
Social Media Week is collaborative in nature, with multiple conferences held simultaneously around the world. Rather than imposing the vision of one group, Social Media Week features community created content that reflects the needs of each local market. For example, visitors to the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami will see “Latina Mom Bloggers” and “Locally Social” on the agenda. For the full schedule of events, click here.
Those unable to attend in person need not worry – the events are broadcast on Livestream so viewers can watch in real time or play back past events from any of the cities.
